The word derives from the Latin word for an ornamental landscape gardener, topiarius, creator of topia or “places”, a Greek word that Romans applied also to fictive indoor landscapes executed in fresco.

To crochet a cupcake:I started with the sides of the cup, chaining 7 plus 1 turning chain, then SC 7 in back loops only on the RS, and front loops only on WS to emphasize the vertical ‘pleats’ of the cup. We finally got around to ice-skating today. Or rather, more correctly, foot-binding torture. Don’t be fooled by the misleading smiles- we were in foot torture hell. We lasted two laps around the small rink before throwing in the skates.
